Mounts Botanical Garden, Botanical garden in West Palm Beach, Florida
Mounts Botanical Garden is a botanical garden in West Palm Beach, Florida, organized into more than 25 themed sections that display tropical and subtropical plants from around the world. The grounds cover native Florida species alongside rare exotic ones, each group placed in a dedicated garden area.
The garden started in 1954 when Marvin Mounts began collecting tropical fruit trees, and the collection slowly grew into a larger public space. It received official recognition as a botanical garden in 1986, marking the end of that long transition.
The Windows on the Floating World section takes visitors along raised boardwalks through a wetland, where native water plants and animals can be seen up close. The walkway lets people move through the habitat without disturbing what lives there.
Comfortable shoes and water are worth bringing, as the paths wind through many different sections over a fair amount of ground. Parking is available on site, and tickets can be bought online before arrival.
The Garden of Tranquility follows an Asian design approach, using natural stone, wood, and plants in a way that feels out of place in subtropical Florida. This section stands apart from the rest of the grounds and feels like a separate place entirely.
