Panama City

Panama City sits along St Andrews Bay in Florida and serves as the administrative center of Bay County. The municipality covers roughly 90 square kilometers, with about one fifth consisting of waterways and coastal areas.

Five separate settlements grew along the coast during the late 19th century and formed the foundation for the later municipality. Official incorporation with shared governance took place in 1909.

The name chosen in 1906 tied the settlement to major shipping routes and was meant to attract property buyers. This connection to the canal project in Central America served as a marketing tool for the growing community.

Carl Gray Park by the water offers shaded pavilions, restrooms, and a loaner station for life jackets. Outdoor fitness equipment is available and playgrounds are set up for families with children.

The MLK Jr Recreation Center in the Glenwood neighborhood serves as a meeting point for sports and social activities among residents. This facility shows how public spaces can help strengthen neighborhood ties.
