Geneva, Census-designated place in Seminole County, Florida
Geneva is a census-designated place in Seminole County that sits between Lake Harney and Lake Jesup as part of the greater Orlando metropolitan region. The community occupies both land and water areas in a rural setting north of the main urban centers.
John and William Bartram conducted the first documented exploration of the area in 1765. Later, anthropologist Daniel Britton studied the region during the 1850s.
The Geneva Cemetery contains the final resting places of 17 Civil War soldiers, including Lewis Thornton Powell from the Booth Conspiracy.
The area is best explored by car since it is a dispersed rural settlement without dense roads and services. Water access points are scattered throughout, making morning visits ideal for wildlife viewing and avoiding afternoon heat.
The Little-Big Econ State Forest protects both the Big and Little Econlockhatchee Rivers as they wind through the area, creating natural waterway intersections. These two rivers support distinct wildlife corridors and offer different paddling experiences.
