Pisgah United Methodist Church, Methodist church in Tallahassee, United States.
Pisgah United Methodist Church is a Greek Revival structure with three front doors and tall windows along its east and west sides. The building follows classical architectural principles with a symmetrical layout and sits on grounds that include an adjacent historic cemetery.
The church was established in 1830 and the current building dates from 1858, representing the third structure built on this site. It remains the oldest Methodist church in Leon County and marks a long-standing Methodist presence in the area.
The interior layout tells a story about social divisions in this community, with different seating areas that served different groups of people. Walking through the space today offers insight into how such divisions were physically built into the building itself.
The church is located northeast of Tallahassee and can be reached via Pisgah Church Road. The site includes the cemetery grounds which visitors can explore when visiting the property.
The cemetery contains a section with roughly 30 unmarked graves of people who died during an 1841 yellow fever outbreak. These unmarked burials stand as a quiet reminder of the epidemic that affected the community.
