Hampton Springs, Florida, Hotel in den Vereinigten Staaten
Hampton Springs is a historic hotel site near Perry, Florida, built over natural springs with sulfurous waters that still flow today. Today only foundation ruins, old concrete pools, and stairs remain around the spring, along with remnants of tile work and concrete structures from the original building.
The hotel was built in 1908 as a two-story structure with about 70 rooms built over the sulfurous springs in the area. In 1954 a fire destroyed the main building, after which the site was abandoned and nature slowly reclaimed the grounds.
The spring itself holds deep meaning for the community, as it drew people across generations who believed in its healing powers. This trust in natural remedies shaped how the place was seen and brought visitors from many regions hoping to find relief through the water.
The grounds are now a county-managed park where visitors can walk freely and explore the old ruins and the still-flowing spring. There are walking trails around the site, but there are no large facilities or modern amenities on the grounds.
The spring has a noticeable sulfur smell and flows from a dark hole into concrete pools that visitors often overlook. This unexpected quality of the water creates a sharp contrast to the otherwise quiet and natural surroundings.
