Yuchi Town Site, Archaeological site near Fort Moore, Alabama.
The archaeological site spans across a remote area containing evidence of multiple indigenous settlements along the Chattahoochee River valley.
Spanish colonizers established a mission at the village of Sabacola and maintained a garrison during the period from 1650 to 1715.
Excavations at the site reveal artifacts from both Apalachicola and Yuchi tribes, including pottery, trade beads, and burial grounds.
Researchers and visitors can access the site through Fort Moore, formerly known as Fort Benning, in Russell County, Alabama.
This location represents the largest known historic village site connected to the Yuchi tribe before their forced relocation in 1836.
