Atlanta Botanical Garden, Botanical garden in Midtown Atlanta, United States.

The Atlanta Botanical Garden is a nonprofit facility with several plant sections located in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. This site includes a large conservatory holding tropical species, outdoor zones featuring native plants, and specially designed themed spaces representing different climate areas.

This site began operation in 1976 as a joint project between civic groups and the city park department. Over the following decades, the grounds expanded gradually through new construction and enlargement of plant collections until reaching its current scale.

This name reflects both the city and the scientific cultivation of plant collections from around the world. Visitors today see the site used actively by gardening crews tending beds and arranging seasonal displays, while school groups and photographers move along paths between themed areas.

This facility opens several days each week, with exact times shifting depending on the season and scheduled events. Those visiting in warm weather should wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as paths between sections can be lengthy.

A dedicated research center here conducts genetic studies of rare regional plants facing threats in nature. This work takes place partly in behind-the-scenes laboratories, though some breeding projects are occasionally displayed in public sections.
