The Colonnades

Construction began in 1916 when land near Ponce de Leon Avenue was subdivided to enable development of the new Virginia-Highland residential area. This initial phase was part of a broader effort to create upscale residential complexes across Atlanta.

The buildings display Italian architectural details with white columns set against red brick and ornate rooflines that define the neighborhood's character. Visitors immediately notice the decorative stucco work and carefully landscaped courtyard that evoke a Mediterranean setting.
