First Baptist Atlanta is a Southern Baptist megachurch on a campus off Interstate 285 in Dunwoody, Georgia, north of Atlanta. Its 2006 building serves a congregation that met in midtown Atlanta from 1848 until the late 20th century, when it bought a commercial property in DeKalb County and moved out to the larger site.
First Baptist Atlanta was founded in 1848 in midtown Atlanta, not in Dunwoody. During the Civil War the church building served as a Confederate hospital and survived the war, remaining in use until a new sanctuary was built in 1869. In the late 20th century the congregation bought a commercial property on Interstate 285 and moved to DeKalb County, and in 2006 it inaugurated a new building.
The church organizes Holy Land tours led by Dr. Anthony George, connecting members with significant religious locations through educational travel experiences.
