Pool's Mill Covered Bridge

The Pool's Mill Covered Bridge extends 96 feet across Settendown Creek, featuring wooden trusses and traditional lattice construction methods from the early 1900s.

Built in 1901 to replace an earlier structure destroyed by flooding, the bridge stands where Cherokee Chief George Welch established mills in 1820.

The National Register of Historic Places recognized this bridge in 1975 for its representation of early American transportation infrastructure and engineering methods.

Visitors can access the bridge through Poole's Mill Park, which provides parking facilities and walking paths for exploring the historical structure.

Construction errors during the bridge's assembly left visible misplaced holes in the wooden beams, creating an unintentional record of building techniques.
