Hickory Log Creek Dam

Hickory Log Creek Dam is a gravity structure made of roller-compacted concrete located north of Atlanta in Cherokee County, Georgia. The facility harnesses water from the creek to supply drinking water to the surrounding communities and operates as a major water management installation.

Construction began in 2005 as a joint effort between the City of Canton and the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority and concluded in February 2008. The project was developed to meet increasing drinking water demands for the northern Georgia region.

The reservoir functions as a central water infrastructure development, representing regional cooperation between Canton and Cherokee County authorities for resource management.

The dam is located near the intersection of Bluffs Parkway and Fate Conn Road for convenient access. Visitors should note that this is an active water infrastructure facility, so access to certain areas may be restricted for safety reasons.

This facility ranks as the tallest roller-compacted concrete dam in North America at approximately 180 feet. Its construction required an enormous quantity of concrete delivered through a specialized conveyor system built specifically for the project.
