Red Top Mountain State Park, State park in Bartow County, United States.
Red Top Mountain State Park is a sprawling nature area along Lake Allatoona with forests, lakeside paths, and recreational facilities. The park includes camping areas, cottage rentals, and shelter spaces for day visitors.
This area was once an iron mining region that shaped industrial growth in northern Georgia. The reddish soil visible throughout the park remains as evidence of this mining past.
The reconstructed 1860s homestead demonstrates how early settlers lived in this region, with original-style buildings and furnishings. Walking through it gives you a sense of daily life during that era.
The park has good trails and plenty of space for outdoor activities throughout the year. Arriving early, especially on weekends, helps you find the best parking and enjoy quieter areas.
The park contains original trenches and earthen fortifications from a battle during the American Civil War in 1864. These military remnants remain visible and tell the story of that conflict.
