Buford is a city in Gwinnett and Hall counties in the state of Georgia. The downtown area consists of several blocks with local shops, cafés and office buildings.
The settlement was founded in 1872 along the railroad line between Charlotte and Atlanta. The Bona Allen Company produced leather goods here from 1888 through the 1970s, employing over a thousand workers at its peak.
The Buford Community Center, Town Park & Theatre presents regular performances, concerts, and community gatherings that reflect local traditions and arts.
The Mall of Georgia sits on the northeastern edge of town and includes over two hundred stores and restaurants across multiple floors. Many public services can be accessed through the city government website.
The former Bona Allen Company factory is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recalls the era when horse collars and shoes were produced here. Some of the original brick buildings are still visible and show the former industrial character.
