Truist Park, Baseball stadium in Cumberland, Georgia
Truist Park is a baseball stadium in Cumberland, Georgia, with a seating bowl curving around the field in multiple tiers. Green walls border the field, and blue signs reading "Home of the Braves" line the lower wall near the dirt. The park seats 41,149 and was designed by Populous, whose exterior uses brick.
The stadium opened in April 2017 as SunTrust Park and became the new home for the Atlanta Braves after their departure from Turner Field. The name changed to Truist Park in 2020 following a merger between two banks.
The ballpark has no team museum, unlike Turner Field. Its brick exterior was laid in a 2015 ceremony where 83-year-old mason Eustis Morris set the first brick; he had also placed bricks at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium and the Olympic Stadium. A time capsule with footage of the groundbreaking and the 1948 and 1995 titles is sealed behind the brickwork, to be opened if the park is demolished.
The ballpark sits next to the Interstate 75 and 285 interchange in Cumberland, about 10 miles (16 km) northwest of downtown Atlanta. The Braves own or lease more than 11,000 parking spaces for game days, with roughly 30,000 within 2 miles (3.2 km). No train station is nearby, so a circulator bus shuttles fans between managed lots and the stadium.
The stadium was built on 15 acres of a 60-acre site, leaving room for parking, green space and The Battery Atlanta entertainment district. During construction in August 2015, 83-year-old mason Eustice Morris laid the first exterior brick; he had also laid the first brick at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium and the first and last at the Olympic stadium. A time capsule sealed behind the brick holds footage of the groundbreaking and the 1948 and 1995 championship seasons.
