Founded in 1888 by Dr. Francis T. Willis as a memorial to his daughter, this institution became the first free public library in Georgia.
The library maintains a collection of rare books, genealogical records, and historical newspapers documenting the heritage of Wilkes County and Georgia.
The facility spans 12,381 square feet across three expansions, offering services Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturday until 4:00 PM.
The interior features Tiffany stained glass windows manufactured in New Haven, including a central memorial window dedicated to Mary Willis.
