The district spans 70 acres along Broad Street between 5th and 13th Streets, containing 158 buildings with varied architectural designs from multiple periods.
Established in 1980 on the National Register of Historic Places, this section of Augusta features the Imperial Theatre, Miller Theater, and Lamar Building.
The neighborhood holds numerous art galleries, performance venues, and local establishments that represent the development of downtown Augusta through centuries.
Visitors can access the district through public parking areas, including double-sided median spaces and a shaded submerged parking area near 11th Street.
The district contained the Haunted Pillar until 2016, a remnant of an 1830 farmer's market that generated local folklore after surviving an 1878 tornado.
