U.S. Representative George W. Croft proposed a post office for downtown Aiken in 1904. After his death, his son Theodore G. Croft, with Representatives J.O. Patterson and James F. Byrnes, secured $50,000 from Congress. Construction began in 1911 and was completed in 1912.

United States Senator Strom Thurmond and South Carolina Senator Tom Young conducted regular business at this postal facility during their terms.

The building is no longer operating as a post office and is now used for private offices, so visitors cannot access the interior. You can view the exterior facade and architectural details from the public street to appreciate its historical design.
