Sonoma TrainTown Railroad, Theme park in Sonoma, United States.
Sonoma TrainTown Railroad is a theme park operating on roughly 4 miles of track through forest and open areas, passing waterfalls, detailed model buildings, wooden trestles, and tunnels. The train ride takes about 20 minutes to complete the circuit through the landscaped grounds.
Stanley L. Frank founded TrainTown in 1958, building two steam locomotives, an electric engine, miniature houses, and landscaped grounds before opening it to the public in 1968. The park grew from one person's passion for creating a detailed model railroad experience.
The park brings families together through a quarter-scale railroad ride, a miniature town to explore, and hands-on interactions with animals in the petting zoo.
The grounds are easy to walk around with clear paths to train stations and rides, making it simple to find your way. Comfortable shoes and sun protection are helpful since you will spend time in outdoor areas throughout the day.
The park features a replica of the New York Central Hudson locomotive number 5212 and displays the original steam locomotive 4-6-4 Hudson number 6088 from Goleta Valley Railroad. These two engines show different ways that railroad history is preserved, one through faithful model building and one through an authentic historic machine.
