Description
Sonoma Mountain is a summit in Sonoma County that rises to about 2,460 feet. Dense oak woodlands cover its eastern slopes while chaparral vegetation dominates the western face.
History
The mountain formed about 12 million years ago through tectonic movements and volcanic activity, rising from what was then Pacific Ocean seabed. These geological processes shaped the region's landscape into what exists today.

The eastern slopes contain Jack London State Historic Park, where the renowned author's residence Wolf House stands in ruins after a devastating fire.
Practical
The North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park has more than 30 kilometers of trails on dirt paths with designated parking areas for visitors. Spring and fall offer the most pleasant conditions for hiking in the area.
