Sonoma Mountain, Mountain summit in Sonoma County, US
Sonoma Mountain rises to 2,463 feet in elevation, featuring dense oak woodlands on its eastern slopes and chaparral landscapes on its western face.
The mountain formed twelve million years ago through tectonic movements and volcanic activity, emerging from what was previously the Pacific Ocean seabed.
The eastern slopes contain Jack London State Historic Park, where the renowned author's residence Wolf House stands in ruins after a devastating fire.
The North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park provides 20 miles of dirt trails for hiking and outdoor activities with designated parking areas.
From the mountain's peak, visitors can view both the Pacific Ocean to the west and the entire Sonoma Valley stretching toward the east.
