The Sonoma Mountain Zen Center extends across 80 acres of land featuring oak trees, redwood groves, and views of the Valley of the Moon.
Jakusho Kwong and Laura Kwong established the Sonoma Mountain Zen Center in 1973 to continue the teachings of Shunryu Suzuki in Northern California.
The center maintains the Soto Zen tradition through daily meditation sessions, workshops, and ceremonies that connect practitioners to Buddhist practices.
Located at 6367 Sonoma Mountain Road, the center offers residential training programs, Saturday community activities, and meditation instruction for all experience levels.
In September 2023, Nyoze Kwong became the new abbot, marking the 92nd generation in an unbroken blood-lineage traced back to Shakyamuni Buddha.
