Mount Hood, Active stratovolcano in Cascade Range, Oregon, United States.

Mount Hood rises to 11,249 feet with twelve named glaciers and snow fields covering eighty percent of the mountain above 6,900 feet elevation.

Lieutenant William Broughton identified and named Mount Hood on October 29, 1792, during Captain George Vancouver's exploration from the Columbia River.

Native American tribes recognized this mountain under different names, including Wy'east, long before European settlers arrived in the Pacific Northwest.

The mountain offers four main ski areas: Timberline Lodge, Mount Hood Meadows, Mount Hood Skibowl, and Cooper Spur, with Timberline providing year-round skiing.

The mountain registers approximately 10,000 climbing attempts annually, making it the second most frequented mountaineering destination after Mount Fuji in Japan.
