Happy Hollow Park & Zoo

Happy Hollow Park & Zoo is a recreation and zoo facility covering about 16 acres that combines animal exhibits, a carousel, a roller coaster, and a petting zoo area. The grounds integrate entertainment attractions with animal encounters, offering a mix of different activities for visitors of various ages.

The San Jose Parks Department established this facility in 1961 as a community recreation space. Over time it evolved from a simple amusement area into a zoo with educational programming.

The Learning LODGE, a teaching building made from hay bales, offers year-round educational programs focused on wildlife protection and environmental conservation. Visitors can engage directly with information about conservation efforts and how protection initiatives work in practice.

The facility is wheelchair accessible and offers rental equipment for those with mobility needs, plus nursing rooms and water stations throughout. Parking and access to all City of San Jose Regional Parks amenities are available for a daily fee.

The Quarters for Conservation program directs a portion of each admission ticket directly toward local and international wildlife protection projects. Visitors contribute to animal conservation efforts across different regions simply by buying their entrance ticket.
