California Trolley and Railroad Corporation

This railroad museum displays restored historic streetcars and locomotives spanning the late 1800s and 1900s, documenting transportation history in the region. The collection features vehicles from different origins, showing how people once traveled across the valley.

The museum opened in 1982 and launched its streetcar service downtown in 1988 to restore access to historic transit. This venture started as a community effort to bring vintage rail transportation back to everyday use.

The streetcars on display came from different cities and time periods, reflecting how rail transport shaped life in the valley. Walking among them shows how these vehicles once moved residents and defined the region's growth.

Free streetcar rides run most weekends and connect to nearby attractions throughout the area. Plan for a few hours and bring water, as rides operate in open or partially covered vehicles exposed to the sun.

A historic steam locomotive and vintage roundhouse building were transferred to another railway venue to continue their story there. This transfer shows how the institution actively shares its vehicles and structures with other sites to keep rail history alive.
