Mexican Heritage Plaza

The Mexican Heritage Plaza is a cultural center in East San Jose comprising multiple structures that house a theater, gardens, classrooms, and gathering spaces. The facility accommodates up to 1,020 visitors and provides diverse areas for artistic and community events.

The plaza was established in 1999 as part of a neighborhood development initiative aimed at revitalizing the Mayfair area. Since its opening, the City of San Jose has owned the property while the School of Arts has managed its operations.

The main entrance features mosaic tributes honoring influential Mexican-American artists such as Carlos Santana and Los Tigres del Norte from the Bay Area. These visual displays reflect the deep connections between this community and its artistic heroes.

The venue sits on Alum Rock Avenue in the Mayfair neighborhood and offers free parking on both sides of the property. Visitors will find straightforward access to all areas without worrying about parking fees.

A large mural titled Corazón y Espíritu de Mayfair was created in 2004 by Precita Eyes Muralists and dominates the visual presence of the building. This artwork captures the heart and spirit of the neighborhood in a way that becomes the defining artistic statement of the place.
