Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park is a protected open space on a ridge south of Pleasanton, California. Dirt trails wind through oak woodlands, grassy hills, and canyons, reaching a ridgeline that looks out over the surrounding valleys.
The land was used for ranching and farming before becoming a park, and some of the old ranch roads are still visible as trails today. Over time, the East Bay Regional Park District took over the area to keep it permanently as open space.
There is no drinking water on the trails, so visitors should bring enough for the whole outing. Dogs are allowed but must stay on a leash, and the park is only open during daylight hours.
Although the park is open to the public, its facilities have been kept deliberately minimal, so large sections feel almost untouched. On quiet mornings, visitors sometimes spot herons along the small streams hidden in the canyons, far from the main trails.
