Blackhawk Museum

The Blackhawk Museum is an automobile and art museum in Danville with roughly ninety well-maintained classic vehicles displayed in spacious galleries. Beyond the cars, the building also houses exhibitions on American Western history and African and Chinese artworks in the same spaces.

The museum was founded in 1988 and started as a private collection of classic cars before later adding galleries for Western history, African art, and Chinese objects. This expansion brought together different collecting interests under one roof.

The museum displays automobiles from different eras alongside art from Africa and Asia that collectors have brought together. This mix of vehicles and art objects gives visitors a sense of how different cultures value craftsmanship and design.

The museum is open from Wednesday through Sunday and welcomes visitors across its spacious gallery spaces. Wear comfortable shoes and plan for several hours to view the full collection at a relaxed pace.

Each classic car in the collection sits on a rotating platform, allowing visitors to view every vehicle from different angles. This rotating system makes it possible to spot details that would otherwise be missed.
