North Santiam State Recreation Area, State recreation area in Marion and Linn counties, United States.
North Santiam State Recreation Area sits along the North Santiam River with camping sites, picnic areas, and outdoor facilities spread across the property. The park includes walk-in and boat-in tent sites alongside tables for dining and direct access to the water for recreation.
Marion County donated the initial parkland in 1937, with additional properties added through private sales in 1952 and 1958. A final contribution came in 1968 when the State Highway Division transferred land to the area.
The Kalapooian people lived here for generations before European arrival, and their connection to the river remains central to the region's identity. Local communities continue to value this waterway as a gathering place and food source.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset, with the main camping season running from May through September. Most facilities are wheelchair accessible, and parking areas are located near the main features.
Steelhead fishing is available here, and the park has spots for horseshoe games. This combination of water activities and traditional lawn games makes visits here distinct from typical river parks.
