Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, women's prison in Wilsonville, Oregon, US
Coffee Creek Correctional Facility is Oregon's only women's prison, located in Wilsonville on a large campus with multiple buildings. The complex is organized into different security levels, with areas for minimum and medium security, housing, dining and recreation spaces, as well as specialized facilities including medical centers, mental health units, and an intake center.
The facility opened in 2002 to replace an older women's prison in Salem and meet the need for additional capacity. Built on the site of a former state hospital, the project was part of Oregon's broader effort to modernize its correctional system.
The facility's name references a nearby creek. Visitors observe women participating in various work and learning programs, such as service dog training or vocational classes like cosmetology.
Visits take place under secure conditions in specially designed areas that are comfortable and welcoming. Allow adequate time to go through the check-in process and review specific visitation guidelines and required documentation beforehand.
The facility operates a specialized program training service dogs, where incarcerated women train dogs that go on to assist people with disabilities. This hands-on program delivers meaningful outcomes for both the women and the future handler-dog teams.
