Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint

Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint is a scenic overlook in Yamhill County located at approximately 1,600 feet elevation with views across the Willamette Valley, distant mountains, and farmland below. Douglas fir trees now cover the summit where visitors can stand to take in these vistas.

The state of Oregon purchased this land from private owners in 1931 and established it as a public recreation area. This acquisition protected the location for ongoing public access.

Native American communities valued this geographic location for its resources and connection to the landscape before European settlers arrived in the region.

The site offers ample parking, picnic areas with tables, and restroom facilities for visitors. Bring your own drinking water as none is available on-site.

The name comes from the original treeless summit that once defined the peak before Douglas firs took hold. This shift in vegetation shows how the landscape has changed over time.
