Monastery of the Precious Blood
Monastery of the Precious Blood, Spanish Colonial Revival monastery in Montavilla, Portland, US
The Monastery of the Precious Blood features white stucco walls, red tile roofs, and arched windows characteristic of 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival design.
Constructed in 1923 by architects Jacobberger and Smith, this monastery replaced an earlier Greek Revival structure deemed inadequate by Portland's fire marshal.
Originally established as a residence for the Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood, the monastery represents the French Canadian religious presence in Oregon.
Located at 1208 SE 76th Avenue, the building now functions as St. Andrew's Memory Care, providing specialized residential services for elderly individuals.
The monastery spans 2.3 acres and received National Register of Historic Places designation on February 14, 1985, with reference number 85000294.
