Trial Islands Lighthouse, Light station in Oak Bay, Canada.
Trial Islands Lighthouse is a light station located on small rocky islands off Oak Bay in British Columbia. The structure consists of a white cylindrical concrete tower topped with a red lantern that sends navigational signals across the water.
The original light station was built in 1906 following a major shipwreck that highlighted the need for better navigation aids in this area. The current concrete structure replaced it in 1970 with a more durable design suited to the harsh coastal environment.
The lighthouse continues its tradition of manual operation with two full-time keepers maintaining this maritime navigation point in British Columbia's coastal waters.
The lighthouse sits on remote islands accessible only by boat and cannot be reached on foot. The best way to view it is from the water or from nearby coastal viewing spots on the mainland.
The structure incorporates vertical cantilever design with reinforced rods extending into the rock foundation to withstand strong coastal conditions.
