Burnaby Art Gallery

Burnaby Art Gallery is housed in Fairacres Mansion, a 1910 building featuring Edwardian Arts and Crafts design with imported English tiles and oak fireplace decorations. The gallery displays over 6,600 works on paper by Canadian and international artists through rotating exhibitions.

The mansion was built in 1910 as a private residence before becoming a public gallery in 1967, when the Burnaby Art Society and the City of Burnaby established it. This early choice to transform a historic home into an art space shaped its character from the start.

The space takes its name from Fairacres, the mansion that now hosts rotating exhibitions focused specifically on works on paper. Visitors can observe how this specialized collection brings together artistic pieces from different countries and time periods.

The location sits within Deer Lake Park and offers free parking, including spaces with electric vehicle charging stations. Opening hours vary by day of the week, so checking the schedule before your visit helps ensure you arrive when the gallery is open.

This is the only public art collection in Canada dedicated exclusively to works on paper. This specialized focus draws collectors and art lovers who appreciate this often-overlooked artistic medium.
