Lakeview Park, Urban park in Denny-Blaine, Seattle, US.
Lakeview Park is an urban park in the Denny-Blaine neighborhood overlooking the water and features three different elevation levels with grassy areas, mature trees, and a sandy beach shoreline. The space includes separate zones for relaxation, recreation, and picnicking along the waterfront.
The land was donated in 1901 by real estate firm Denny-Blaine Land Company as part of a larger gift of five green spaces to the city. This early donation helped establish public access to the waterfront in the developing Seattle neighborhood.
The beach area has been a recognized gathering place for LGBTQ+ communities in Seattle since the 1970s. It remains an important social space where people come together regularly.
The park is easily accessible on foot and offers distinct areas for different activities, from a non-lifeguarded beach to grassy sections for games and picnic spots. Visitors should know there are no lifeguards and that conditions vary with the season and weather.
An original stone wall on the grounds marks the former water level before the 1917 Lake Washington Ship Canal construction lowered the lake. This remnant silently records a major landscape change that happened over a century ago.
