Zion Lodge, hotel in de Verenigde Staten
Zion Lodge is an accommodation building in Zion National Park in Utah and the only lodging option directly inside the canyon. It offers different room types, from smaller cabins dating to the 1920s to larger suites, plus two restaurants and a cafe that serve food and beverages.
The facility was built in the 1920s to make park visits easier and once relied on a railroad connection for faster travel. The original building burned down in 1966 and was replaced within months by a modern structure made from prefabricated parts.
The lodge bears the name Zion, reflecting the spiritual significance this place holds for visitors from around the world. Its simple wood construction and wide porches define the image of a classic national park stay and show how people wish to integrate themselves into this landscape.
The location is open year-round and accessible by car, with free shuttle buses running to the entrance during peak seasons to reduce traffic. The lodge has a 24-hour front desk, complimentary Wi-Fi, and sits conveniently near the park's hiking trails and viewpoints.
The structure was built using wood from nearby plateaus that was brought down the cliff face using a special technique, creating a direct link between construction and landscape. Few other park service lodges were built using this unconventional approach.
