Archaeological site of Grand

The archaeological complex spans 70 hectares with an amphitheater, thermal baths, public buildings, ramparts, villas, and residential districts within limestone terrain.

The settlement of Andésina emerged in the first century CE, developing into a substantial Gallo-Roman city with 15,000 to 20,000 inhabitants.

The site contains a 232-square-meter mosaic depicting a scene from Menander's play Phasma, with four animal figures at each corner.

The archaeological site opens daily during July and August, offering wheelchair access, parking facilities, and an on-site shop at 4 rue de la mosaïque.

Engineers created an intricate 15-kilometer network of galleries connecting to a central sinkhole, combining natural karst formations with artificial conduits for water supply.
