Henry J. Wheeler Farm
Henry J. Wheeler Farm, National Register of Historic Places farmstead in Murray, US
The Henry J. Wheeler Farm is a historic farmstead spanning approximately 75 acres with an adobe and brick home and several outbuildings completed in 1898. The main residence contains eleven rooms arranged for both family living and farm management purposes.
The farmstead was built in 1898 as a residence for a farming family and was acquired by Salt Lake County in 1969. It was added to both state and federal historic registries in 1976 because of its importance in documenting rural life.
The home displays Victorian-style rooms with formal dining and sitting areas that reflect how prosperous farming families lived during that era. Walking through these spaces gives a sense of the domestic life and values of rural Utah communities in the late 1800s.
The property is open to visitors most days of the week at no charge, making it easy to explore the historic buildings. Plan to spend time walking the grounds and viewing both the main house and outbuildings at your own pace.
Utah State University operates the property today and continues active farming while also running educational programs for local students. This blend of operating farm work and historic preservation is uncommon for most heritage properties.
