Hôtel de préfecture de Paris, Administrative building in 15th district, France
The Hôtel de Préfecture de Paris is a modern administrative building in the 15th district with extensive glass facades and steel framing. It serves as headquarters for the Prefecture of Paris, the Île-de-France regional government, and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission.
The building was erected in 1989 on the site of a former Citroën factory, marking a shift from industrial to administrative use. In 2011 it consolidated seven previously scattered administrative locations into one central site.
The structure shows late twentieth-century French administrative design through its glass and steel exterior. This modern appearance shapes how the neighborhood looks and feels to visitors walking past.
The site sits next to André-Citroën Park and is easy to reach on foot or by public transport. Keep in mind that some areas may have limited public access since this is an active government building.
The site was once home to a Citroën automobile factory, one of Paris's largest industrial plants. The transformation shows how the city has modernized away from its industrial past.
