Porte du Bas-Meudon, city gate of Paris

The Bas-Meudon gate is a former entrance to Paris in the 15th arrondissement, located near the Seine. It was part of the Thiers fortification system built in the 19th century and once controlled passage between the city and surrounding areas.

The gate was built in the mid-19th century as part of a defensive ring around Paris. It was one of several access points along the left bank of the Seine and gradually lost its military purpose as the city expanded.

The site is best accessed via Rue Lucien-Bossoutrot, since the nearby quay is difficult for pedestrians to navigate. The Henri-Farman tram stop on line T3a is close by and provides quick access to the neighborhood.

The gate originally stood between two other fortification entrances and remains a discrete point separating Paris from its suburbs. Modern infrastructure like the tram line T3a passes through the same location, connecting the historic passage to contemporary transportation.
