Pioneer Theatre Company, Professional theatre in Salt Lake City, United States
Pioneer Theatre Company produces seven theatrical performances each season at the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre on the University of Utah campus.
The theatre organization started operations in 1962 with the inaugural production of Hamlet, marking the beginning of professional performances in Salt Lake City.
The company collaborates with union members from Actors' Equity Association, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and United Scenic Artists for professional productions.
Located at 300 South 1400 East in Salt Lake City, the main stage accommodates 932 guests while the smaller Babcock Theatre seats 350 people.
In 2007, Pioneer Theatre Company became the first regional theatre in the United States to obtain rights for Les Misérables, resulting in 82 consecutive sold-out shows.
