Logan is a university city in Cache County in northern Utah that spreads along the foothills of the Bear River Mountains. Streets follow a rectangular grid and lead from the flat valley floor gently up to the forested slopes.
Mormon settlers founded the town in 1859 on the banks of the Logan River and named it after fur trapper Ephraim Logan. The city was officially incorporated in 1866 and quickly grew into the administrative center of Cache County.
