Logan Utah Temple, Religious temple in Logan, United States.
Logan Utah Temple is a place of worship with Gothic Revival architecture in Logan, Utah, marked by two towers and a height of roughly 170 feet (52 meters). On the eastern side sits an oval reflecting pool that mirrors the gray sandstone facade and gives the grounds a calm appearance.
Construction started in 1877 following plans by architect Truman O. Angell and took seven years until dedication in 1884. It was the fourth such building for this faith community and arose at a time when the region remained thinly populated.
The name honors the pioneers of Cache Valley who settled the region from 1859 under Apostle Charles C. Rich. The building serves today as a place for church ceremonies of the community, which remains closely connected to the traditions of the early settlers.
The building is located at 175 North 300 East in Logan and is surrounded by well-kept grounds that invite a walk around the perimeter. The heated sidewalks around the property allow comfortable access for visitors even during winter snowfall.
During the initial construction phase, women from the surrounding area wove and sewed by hand roughly 2,144 square yards (1,800 square meters) of carpet for the interior. This work happened alongside their daily tasks and shows the involvement of the entire community in the project.
