Fazlagić Tower, Historical tower near Gacko, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Fazlagic Tower is a stone ruin at the southern edge of Kuljsko Field, approximately 6 kilometers from Gacko. The remains display features typical of Ottoman-era fortified residences that once served local families and leaders.
The tower was built in the 17th century by Ahmed Fazlagic as a fortified residence during Ottoman rule. Centuries later, it became entangled in the conflicts of the 20th century before falling into its current state.
The place is named after Ahmed Fazlagic, a local leader whose legacy persists across nine villages in the surrounding area. The ruins today serve as a reminder of how such structures once defined daily life and provided security for families.
The ruins are located near the main road from Gacko toward Kuljsko Field, making them relatively accessible. Plan about 30 minutes for a visit, and wear sturdy shoes since the ground is uneven around the site.
The site marks the final occupied territory of the Independent State of Croatia during the Second World War. This unexpected connection to 20th-century European history adds another dimension to what you see standing before you.
