Lennoxville, Borough in Sherbrooke, Canada
Lennoxville is a borough lying about 5 km south of downtown Sherbrooke where the St. Francis and Massawippi Rivers meet. The area spreads along these waterways with residential neighbourhoods, green spaces, and local facilities woven throughout.
The settlement was founded in 1819 through farming by the Mallory family and named after Charles Lennox, the 4th Duke of Richmond. These rural roots shaped its growth from farmland into the residential area it is today.
The neighbourhood reflects the heritage of both English and French-speaking communities who have lived together here. You can see this bilingual character in local institutions and the way people interact in daily life.
The area is well connected by Routes 143 and 108 plus Autoroutes 10 and 55, making it easy to reach Montreal and Quebec City. Being just south of Sherbrooke, it is simple to get around by car or on foot to nearby destinations and between communities.
Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States, lived here from 1867 to 1868 while his sons attended Bishop's College School. This historical stay connects the area to a significant moment in North American history.
