Westmount Public Library

Westmount Public Library is a three-story building with spacious reading rooms, research areas, and collections across multiple formats and subjects. The interior provides numerous work stations and spaces designed to serve different types of visitors and information needs.

The building was designed by Robert Findlay in 1899 and later expanded with a children's pavilion in 1911 and a south wing in 1924. These additions reflected the community's growing demand for expanded library services over the following decades.

The Reference Department displays a totem pole from British Columbia created in the early 20th century that represents indigenous Canadian artistic traditions. Visitors encountering this work can observe the craftsmanship and learn about its cultural meaning through direct viewing.
