Bon Echo hut, Climbers hut in Ontario, Canada.
Bon Echo hut is a shelter building located near Mazinaw Lake, accessible only by boat. It sits on an isolated site that provides base camp access to nearby rock formations and the natural landscape.
The Alpine Club of Canada Toronto Section built this hut more than 50 years ago to support climbers in the region. The structure was created in response to growing climbing interests around Mazinaw Rock.
The hut serves as a gathering space where climbers share expertise and discuss local rock formations. People here connect over their passion for outdoor climbing and help introduce newcomers to the area.
Access is only by boat from the mainland, so you need to arrange transportation in advance with the local operators. Reserve your spot ahead of time, and check weather conditions before your trip since water conditions can change quickly.
The hut sits on private land just outside Bon Echo Provincial Park boundaries, creating a rare water-only access experience. This setting offers a more secluded climbing adventure compared to other accessible shelters in the region.
