Arnisee, reservoir in Switzerland
Arnisee is a small reservoir in the mountains of Uri, created by a dam across a natural valley. The water is fed by streams from the surrounding mountains and reflects the steep rocky slopes and peaks.
The dam at Arnisee was built to control water flow and meet the local water needs of the region. Today the water is also used to generate electricity at a nearby facility.
The name Arnisee comes from the local language of the Uri region and refers to the water in this mountain area. Today, visitors use this spot for quiet walks and pauses in nature, showing how the mountain landscape has become a place for rest and escape.
You can reach Arnisee easily by cable car from Intschi or Amsteg, with the Intschi station being particularly close to the water. Dress for the season, wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring water to explore the easy trails around the reservoir.
Since 2020, the area has had a climbing park with about sixteen different routes on the rocks, suitable for beginners and children. The routes are easy to reach and provide an engaging activity from May through November for visitors seeking adventure.
