Red Palace and Red Square, National heritage site in Haicheng Town, Haifeng County, China

The Red Palace is a national cultural heritage site in the center of Haifeng featuring a main hall with five bays constructed using traditional brick and timber methods. The grounds include exhibition halls displaying artifacts and documents from the revolutionary period.

The building was originally constructed as a Confucian Temple but served in November 1927 as the gathering place for the Workers, Farmers and Soldiers Congress. This assembly led to the establishment of China's first rural soviet government.

The hall displays traces of its former role as a Confucian Temple through classical architectural elements that remain visible in the space. Visitors can observe how historical and revolutionary layers are woven into the design of the rooms.

The site is located on Renmin Road in downtown Haifeng and is easily accessible on foot. The exhibition halls are clearly marked, and visitors should allow time to view the historical documents and artifacts at their own pace.

The hall received red paint and cloth coverings in 1927, transforming it into a symbol of revolutionary change and giving it the name by which it is known today. This striking transformation happened in a single moment in history.
