The temple features an exterior of desert rose pre-cast concrete trimmed with Texas pearl granite and spans 34,245 square feet of floor space.
The Albuquerque New Mexico Temple, dedicated on March 5, 2000, by President Gordon B. Hinckley, became the first temple constructed in New Mexico.
Native American missionary work in New Mexico commenced in the 1860s, establishing connections with the Zuni Indians and forming enduring religious communities.
The temple provides clothing rentals for ceremonies, offers multilingual endowment presentations, and includes facilities for baptisms, ordinances, and sealing ceremonies.
Glass sliding doors replaced the original hand-hinged entrance due to strong mountain winds, while a gold statue of angel Moroni crowns the single spire.
