Pueblo City Park Carousel, Historical carousel in City Park, Pueblo, Colorado.
The Pueblo City Park Carousel is a wooden carousel with intricately carved horses located in the city park. The ride features detailed mechanical workings designed by C.W. Parker and continues to operate for visitors throughout the year.
The horses were carved in 1907 and the carousel was assembled in 1911, making it one of the older functioning examples. In 1983 it received official recognition on the National Register for its importance to understanding carousel construction.
The carousel has been central to family gatherings and local celebrations for more than a century. Generations of Pueblo residents return to ride it and share the same joy they experienced as children.
The carousel is located in Pueblo City Park and is easy to reach on foot or by car. It is best visited during warmer months when the ride operates fully, and the park provides picnic areas and walking paths for a full day.
The mechanical design follows the classic Parker #72 pattern, which drew from early amusement parks at Coney Island. This particular design helped establish features and techniques that other builders later copied and refined.
