Strawberry Reservoir, Reservoir in Strawberry Valley, United States.
Strawberry Reservoir is a large water body in Wasatch County surrounded by mountain ranges and forest. The lake sits at an elevation around 7,500 feet (2,286 meters) and covers thousands of acres with clear water and varied shorelines.
The Bureau of Reclamation built the first dam here in 1913 to store water for the region. A second dam was constructed in 1972 to increase the reservoir's capacity for water storage.
The reservoir draws fishing enthusiasts who know it as a destination with four distinct fishing areas that each offer different experiences. Local anglers have developed knowledge about which zones work best during different seasons.
Visitors need a valid Utah fishing license, and specific rules apply for the types of fish you can keep. Spring through fall offers the best fishing conditions, when water levels and temperatures are most stable.
In 1990 the entire lake underwent chemical treatment to remove all aquatic life, then selected fish species were reintroduced. This extreme measure reshaped what lives in the water today.
